The Hummingbirds Return

April 01, 2019

The Alaska Hummingbird Festival returns to Ketchikan from April 1-30, and the entire month of April will be devoted to celebrating the return of the Rufous Hummingbirds to our own Tongass National Forest, along with a month of events in honor of these beautiful spring migratory birds. The celebration will include a myriad of creative and educational events, such as the Alaska Hummingbird Festival juried art show, guided bird walks, lectures, crafts, and special activities just for the kids.

Join us at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center throughout the month for these events, and for the opening reception of the festival’s juried art show, along with “My Secret Synergy Garden” by artist Rhonda Green on April 5. Green’s kinetic art sculptures are handmade from recycled metal objects, both new and found. Hosted by the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau, the reception is open to the public. The exhibit will remain on display through June 1.
