March is All About the Arts

March 04, 2019

March features some terrific activities here in Ketchikan, and three of our favorites this month are all about the arts! First, head over to the Kayhi Auditorium on March 2-9 for the First City Players presentation of {Proof}. This Pulitzer-Prize-winning drama by playwright David Auburn is a haunting tale featuring two young women, their brilliant father, and one of his former students as pieces of a perplexing puzzle dealing with family secrets and a cryptic mathematical proof.

Next, be sure to stop in at the Main Street Gallery for “Art & Science on the Katmai Coast.” Showing March 2-29, this exhibit features the work of artist David Rosenthal, who joined scientists studying environmental impact at Katmai National Park in 2015. The exhibit depicts Rosenthal’s work during his artist residency at the park. Lastly, don’t miss visiting performer Tim Easton on March 30 at the Saxman Tribal House for an evening of music. The Nashville-based Easton and Independent Music Award nominee for “Best American Song” will be joined by selected students of the Campfire Propaganda Songwriting Workshop.
