Ketchikan Art and the Art of Fishing

June 03, 2019

June is one of the most beautiful months to visit Ketchikan and an ideal destination for a Father’s Day fishing getaway. Whether Dad is a seasoned angler, or still learning the ropes, the months of May-October are prime time for fishing in Alaska. While some pros consider the act of fishing an art and others consider it an exact science, everyone who loves to fish agrees that this region is a fisherman’s paradise. And the entire family can get in on the action, as we offer a variety of packages for those of all skill and experience levels, from a full package with U.S. Coast Guard-certified guides, to self-guided tours for the more accomplished.

Not interested in fishing? No problem—Ketchikan offers a plethora of events and activities for all interests and tastes, including hiking, kayaking, whale-watching, visiting the Totem Heritage Center, discovering Main Street, and so much more. Also, for the art-lovers in the family, the Main Street Gallery is featuring the “Artists of Ketchikan” Invitational Exhibit. Ongoing through July 26, this annual show features new work from both emerging and established local artists.
